Parker anxious for chance
Chelsea midfielder Scott Parker has revealed his frustration at his failure to claim a regular first-team place at Stamford Bridge this season.
Parker enjoyed a run in the side after his £10m (€14.4m) move from Charlton in January but has made just one substitute appearance under new boss Jose Mourinho.
The 24-year-old is determined to force his way into the England reckoning but he has not featured since being named by coach Sven-Goran Eriksson as a reserve for his Euro 2004 squad.
Parker has been assured by Mourinho he will be given a chance but he admits he is concerned about the current situation.
He said: “I have to admit that if things carry on the way they are, I will have to review my situation and consider whether it might be in my best interests to carry on.
“Another factor I have to consider is my future with England. It’s a big blow not to be involved. I can’t expect to be in with a chance if I’m not playing first-team football.
“When I joined Chelsea in January, everything seemed to be going smoothly. It’s very frustrating, especially as I have worked so hard to establish myself here.
“A new manager has come in and I have to accept he might see things a little differently.
“I have spoken to Jose Mourinho about my situation and he has told me not to worry and I will get my chance.”
Meanwhile stories emanating from Italy suggest that Chelsea striker Mikael Forssell could become a target for Serie A giants Lazio.
The Finland striker is out of action with a knee injury that ended his second loan spell with Premiership rivals Birmingham.
However, it is unlikely Lazio will buy the player outright with reports in Italy hinting at a long loan deal.
