Gay marriage to be examined in review of family rights
18/10/2004 - 07:37:34An Oireachtas committee is reportedly examining whether the Constitution should be changed to allow for gay marriages in Ireland.
Reports this morning said the Oireachtas committee on the Constitution was set to examine the measure as part of an overall review of family rights.
The committee will invite various groups and legal experts to make submissions and presentations on the issue before drawing up any recommendations.
It is then expected to present a report to the Government before next July.
