Stone slams modern war films
18/10/2004 - 08:21:20Movie maker Oliver Stone has slammed violent war movies Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan because they've given America "an awe" of the military.
The controversial director claims anyone who blasts his much criticised ultra- violent Natural Born Killers and then praises modern war films is being hypocritical.
And those who feel his controversial serial killer film encouraged those on the edge to follow the actions of his characters, while wowing about real-life war stories are missing a major point.
He explains: "Natural Born Killers is a satire, whereas movies like Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan contribute to an aura of patriotic inevitability and an awe of the military."
