SFA seeks improved tax credits for R&D operations

18/10/2004 - 11:25:09
The Small Firms Association has called on the Government to introduce improved tax credits for firms involved in research and development.

The call is contained in the association's pre-budget submission.

The document also calls on the Government to give a €300m rebate to businesses to make up for commercial rates they have paid to local authorities.

The SFA said this figure was the amount that local councils had failed to use from the Local Authority Fund in 2004 for roads, houses and other services.

Elsewhere, the Small Firms Association has urged the Government not to increase public expenditure, to boost the supply of affordable housing, to increase the availability of childcare, to link tax credits to inflation and to widen the existing tax bands.
