IFA makes pre-Budget submission

The Irish Farmers' Association (IFA) has said the Government needs to encourage farmers to consolidate their holdings in order to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

Over two-thirds of Irish farms are divided into separate parcels of land.

It is just one of the measures the group is demanding in its pre-Budget submission to the Minister for Finance today.

The IFA also wants an increase in grant aid for environmental investment, so that farmers can successfully implement the Nitrates Directive.
