Israeli missile attack kills top Islamic Jihad official

05/10/2004 - 17:50:21
An Israeli aircraft has launched two missiles at a car in Gaza City tonight, killing two people and wounding four others.

The dead were named as Bashir Aldabash, 40, one of Islamic Jihad’s top officials in Gaza and Zarees Alareer, also a member of the group.

Witnesses said one missile hit the car, which had two passengers in it, sending the vehicle bursting into flames.

Another missile missed the vehicle.

Three bystanders were lightly wounded, hospital officials said.

Israeli air attacks have increasingly targeted Palestinian militants as they drive around Gaza.
