BA sees increase in passengers
British Airways carried 1.3% more passengers last month than in September 2003, it was announced today.
A total of 3,123,000 people travelled with BA in September 2004 compared with 3,085,000 in the same month last year.
While numbers travelling on UK and European routes remained about the same, North and South American traffic rose 1.8% last month, while Asia Pacific was up 6.5% and Africa and the Middle East increased 8.7%.
BA’s planes travelled 77.9% full in September 2004 compared with a figure of 75.7% in September 2003.
BA’s premium traffic – the passengers who travel in first or business class - decreased 0.2% last month, but non-premium, or economy, traffic rose 4.2%.
Meanwhile, low-fare carrier Ryanair today announced it had carried 2,373,522 passengers in September 2004 – a rise on the 2,024,572 who flew with the budget airline in September 2003.
Ryanair’s planes were 87% full last month, compared with a figure of 85% in September 2003.
