Algeria removes ban on Irish beef

The Minister for Agriculture has announced the re-opening of the Algerian market to Irish beef to include the importation of fresh and chilled beef.

The move effectively overturns a ban imposed on Irish beef imports following the BSE crisis that hit Europe in 2000.

Mary Coughlan has welcomed the reversal of the ban describing it as well deserved and a vote of confidence in the Irish beef sector.
