40,000 cheer Kerry footballers at home
28/09/2004 - 07:24:57More than 40,000 supporters turned out in Tralee and Killarney last night to welcome home the Sam Maguire Cup and the victorious Kerry football team.
Kerry manager Jack O'Connor hailed the large crowds, saying he couldn't believe the turnout.
"This is the stuff of dreams. It's great to see Sam back in Kerry. We’re all looking forward to sharing the delight of thousands of our supporters," he said.
The Kerry senior and minor stars were paraded on two open-topped buses through the streets of tralee.
Captain Dara Ó Cinnéide added that Sunday's win was the highlight of his career.
