Paisley to meet Taoiseach in Dublin on Thursday
28/09/2004 - 07:21:41Democratic Unionist Party leader Ian Paisley is due to meet the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in Dublin this Thursday as part of efforts to restore devolved government in the North.
The meeting at government buildings marks the first time that Mr Paisley has travelled to Dublin for talks on the peace process.
Two weeks ago, talks aimed at producing a deal between DUP and Sinn Féin broke up without agreement, despite the IRA's apparent willingness to decommission and disarm.
The DUP refused to budge on its demand for changes to the Good Friday Agreement which Sinn Féin and the SDLP said would effectively lead to a return of unionist majority rule.
