LUAS tram collides with car in Smithfield area of Dublin
28/09/2004 - 10:15:22The launch of the second LUAS line in Dublin this morning was marred by a collision between a tram and a car in the Smithfield area of the city.
The tram was empty at the time as it was involved in testing on the Red Line between Tallaght and Connolly Station, which was officially opened this morning by the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Transport Minister Seamus Brennan.
Passenger services are due to begin operating on the line at 3pm.
This morning’s collision was the latest in a series of minor accidents that have beset the LUAS system since its launch earlier this year.
