Aer Lingus to axe Irish call centre in cost-cutting drive
28/09/2004 - 08:07:27Aer Lingus has reportedly decided to axe its Irish reservations centre as part of the restructuring of the airline ahead of its possible sale to the private sector.
Reports this morning said the Irish call centre would be closed down in the next 14 days, with a London company contracted to take over reservations.
The reports said Aer Lingus was also planning to introduce a new casual uniform for its staff as part of moves to reposition to the airline as a low-fares operator.
The company has already scrapped its business class service and short-haul cargo services in an effort to slash costs and enable it to compete with Ryanair.
