Pakistan kills 50 in terror camp air raid
09/09/2004 - 11:23:40Pakistani jets pounded a suspected training camp for foreign militants - including Uzbeks, Arabs and Chechens – in a two hour barrage in tribal South Waziristan today.
An army spokesman said 50 people were killed.
The camp was located about 15 miles north-east of the region’s main town, Wana.
”These trained terrorists were indulging in sabotage and terrorist acts in the country,” said a military spokesman
Major General Shaukat Sultan said the men had been involved in terrorist acts inside Pakistan, but gave no details. He said they were not in any way connected to suspected Chechen and Arab militants who took hundreds hostage at the Russian school.
