McGlynn doubt for Derry

09/09/2004 - 15:56:09
Derry City winger Gareth McGlynn is a doubt for tonight’s FAI Cup quarter-final against Kildare County at the Brandywell (7.45pm).

Wideman McGlynn has a hamstring problem which forced him out of the 3-0 premier division reverse at Longford Town last week and faces a fitness test ahead of tonight’s kick-off.

Derry, who knocked out league champions Shelbourne in the last round in a replay penalty shoot-out, also hand a fitness test to 6ft 5ins defender Clive Delaney.

Selection problems are more intense for First Division Kildare whose manager Eric Hannigan has been forced to call in former Bohemians, Dundalk and Shels goalkeeper John Connolly with regulars Danny O'Leary and Brendan Kennedy both absent.

Connolly, 32, played for Kildare earlier this season and is needed again as O'Leary is on his honeymoon having got married in Spain on Wednesday, while Brendan Kennedy is cup-tied following his move from Dublin City last month.

Former Longford Town striker Sean Francis is in the same predicament while midfielders Alan Kelly and Shay Zeller both face fitness tests following knocks picked up against Limerick last week.
