US envoy to attend North talks at Leeds Castle next week
09/09/2004 - 08:16:08US President George W Bush’s special envoy to Ireland is to participate in next week’s make-or-break negotiations on the Irish peace process, according to sources in the United States.
The sources said Mitchell Reiss’ presence at the talks was a sign of how seriously they were being taken by the Bush administration.
The talks are due to get underway at Leeds Castle in Britain next Thursday. They will be chaired by British Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.
