PSNI chief retains 680 reserve officers
09/09/2004 - 15:13:27The chief constable of the PSNI Hugh Orde has said that he will retain 680 of the full-time reserve police officers that had been threatened with redundancy.
Mr Orde insisted that it was too soon to axe the reserve force entirely, and that the redundancies were an "operational decision that takes the current security situation into account".
Of the 1,487 full-time reserve officers, 680 have been retained on the basis of three-year contracts from April 2005.
