Magpies clamp down on eye infections

04/08/2004 - 11:33:59
Newcastle have closed down their first-team dressing room after Lee Bowyer became the third player to suffer an eye infection.

The Magpies, who travelled to Scotland this morning for tonight’s friendly clash with Celtic, will use the Academy dressing room at their training headquarters after Bowyer joined goalkeeper Shay Given and defender Andy O’Brien on the casualty list with conjunctivitis.

All three men will miss the game with the highly-contagious infection, and the club has moved to ensure that they are not joined by any other players as the start of the new season approaches.
