McDowell planning surprise inspections of garda stations
04/08/2004 - 08:05:50Justice Minister Michael McDowell is reportedly planning a series of unannounced garda station inspections to examine whether professional standards are being met.
Reports this morning said a team of inspectors would be established to conduct the “lightning raids” and to examine investigation files and records.
The inspectorate would work separately from the proposed Garda Ombudsman Commission that Mr McDowell has vowed to establish shortly.
