Labour seeks abolition of fee for planning submissions

04/08/2004 - 13:00:40
The Labour Party has called on the Government to abolish the €20 fee charged to members of the public who make a submission to the planning matters involving Environmental Impact Statements.

Reports this morning said the European Commission was planning to take Ireland to court over the fee because it breached an EU directive.

Labour spokesman Eamon Gilmore said the Government should abolish the fee rather than attract huge fines from the EU.
