Digiweb signs up for internet exchange
Digiweb today announced it has joined INEX (Internet Neutral Exchange), Ireland's internet exchange located in Dublin, and has established live peering connections with all other primary Irish internet and telecommunications providers.
This step enhances broadband access for Irish internet users, enabling accelerated access to content on Digiweb-hosted servers, and provides the rapidly-expanding base of Digiweb Broadband subscribers direct access to other Irish located content.
INEX provides data traffic exchange for Irish and international internet service providers, allowing them to route IP traffic efficiently within Ireland and thereby provide faster, more reliable and lower-latency internet access for their customers.
“Becoming a member of INEX is an important step for us in supporting the future requirements of our national broadband access network, and is key to the introduction of a number of innovative new services for us over coming months,” said Digiweb’s managing director Colm Piercy.
Digiweb’s broadband reach is the widest in Ireland, with the largest installed base of satellite broadband terminals and the largest licensed 3.5GHz fixed wireless broadband network under construction.
With the addition of its own DSL broadband services, Digiweb has reached a further 150 towns across the country.
