01/08/2004 - 14:05:22
At least 16 people were injured today when attackers tossed a hand grenade from a car outside a casino in the Czech Republic capital of Prague, authorities said.

The attack was likely targeted the owner of the Casino Royal, police said.

The explosion occurred at about 12.30pm (10.30am irish time) in a popular pedestrian zone in downtown Prague with many restaurants and cafes.

A McDonald’s restaurant is just on the other side of Na Prikope Street where the incident took place.

The area was cordoned off and police were investigating the incident.

All the injuries appeared to be slight, said Marek Uhlir, spokesman for Prague’s emergency service. He said a child was among them.
