Brown refuses to retire
Legendary singer James Brown refuses to retire - and believes his musical talent is a divine gift that enables him to convey his "principles" to his fans.
The Get Up (I Feel Like Being A) Sex Machine star feels blessed he's able to speak to people through his music.
On the prospect of retiring, Brown says: "I could be forced out. Because I have principles and I'm not gonna sacrifice them to continue. I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
"And I want to say one thing in closing. I thank God for launching me throughout the world. I thank the people for having that keen sense and I thank God for also giving me the sound to make them listen. That had to be by God because I've never taken music lessons in my life.
"But I would say to them, when you find young people doing something don't knock 'em down, drive 'em to drugs and take everything they got. And please, I'm askin' you like Moses - and I'm not goin' black or white, but I'm sayin' this: Let my people go. I'm gone."
