Two die in car bomb blast
15/07/2004 - 08:19:38A car bomb exploded in the Iraqi city of Karbala today, killing two people in the car.
Authorities said Karbala police chased the car after receiving a tip it was filled with explosives.
“Finding themselves surrounded, the two persons inside detonated the car while they were inside,” a spokesman said.
No-one else was hurt, but the blast damaged electrical power lines in the region.
A second car bomb exploded near police and government buildings in the western city of Haditha.
There were reports of casualties but further information was not immediately available.
