Pearson harbours Champions League ambitions
15/07/2004 - 09:04:29Celtic midfielder Stephen Pearson is hoping to add Champions League football to his impressive CV.
Last season was a dream come true for the 21-year-old, who clinched a move from Motherwell to his boyhood heroes and also broke into the Scotland side.
He played in UEFA Cup clashes without looking out of place and now wants to do the same in European football’s flagship competition.
The Hoops are already assured of a place in the lucrative group stage and Pearson was determined to be part of it.
He said: “It will be a great experience for me if I can play in the Champions League this season. It is a step up from the UEFA Cup.
“It is going to be difficult for us to progress but the team picked up last year and we were close to getting to the second stage.”
