Retailers threaten to stop selling Vodafone top-up cards

15/07/2004 - 07:58:03
More than 2,000 shopkeepers have reportedly threatened to stop selling Vodafone top-up cards because of the company’s decision to reduce the margins that retailers receive on such products.

Vodafone recently cut the margins on €10 and €15 cards from 6.5% to 5.5% and on €20, €25 and €40 cards from 10% to 5.5%.

Reports this morning said the retailers' organisation RGDATA had since written to the mobile phone firm saying that the majority of its members had decided to stop stocking Vodafone cards in protest at the move.
