Ten Commandments epic on the way
15/07/2004 - 10:52:27It didn’t take long for Hollywood to revise its feelings about religious epics following the success of Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.
Paramount Pictures is now planning a new version of The Ten Commandments. Cecil B DeMille liked the story so much he made it twice, and now top producer Mark Gordon has been signed to bring the biblical epic to life once more.
Paramount had a hand in the first two films, the first in 1923 starring Theodore Roberts and the 1956 remake featuring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner and Anne Baxter. Now they want a “serious, research-based” treatment of the story to home in on Gibson’s triumph.
