Thomsonfly.com sending passengers to Coventry

Aer Rianta Shannon has announced that low-fares airline Thomsonfly.com will begin operating a daily a service from Shannon Airport direct to Coventry on November 3.

Coventry, near Birmingham and Leicester is seen by Aer Rianta as an ideal gateway to the British midlands.

Martin Moroney, Airport Director at Aer Rianta Shannon said: “We are extremely pleased to have secured another low-fares carrier for Shannon Airport.

“This route signals Thomsonfly.com’s first entry into the Irish market and we are delighted that they have decided to connect the midlands to Shannon.

“The development of additional UK and European services continues to be our main priority.

“We anticipate that up to 60,000 passengers will use the service during its first year of operation and we look forward to working with Thomsonfly.com to make this route a resounding success.”

Thomsonfly.com is part of the TUI AG group, whose other subsidiary airlines include Hapag Llyod, Hapag Llyod Express, Britannia Nordic, Britannia Airways Ltd., TUI Airlines Belgium and Corsair.

Based at Coventry Airport, Thomsonfly.com already operates services to 11 European destinations, including Jersey, Málaga, Valencia, Ibiza, Palma, Marseille, Nice, Pisa, Naples and Venice.
