Black is the new Blue

07/07/2004 - 11:46:35
Birmingham have appointed former Coventry manager Eric Black as their new first team coach.

The 40-year-old former Motherwell manager takes over from the sacked Mark Bowen who left St Andrews after a row over a new contract.

“Out of all the potential candidates I saw, Eric was outstanding,” Birmingham manager Steve Bruce told the club website, www.blues.premiumtv.co.uk.

“He is an excellent young coach with a fantastic track record for someone of his age.

“His playing career ended early and as a result he has been a coach for a long time and gained a lot of experience.

“He has bags of enthusiasm and is regarded by many in the game as one of the best young coaches around. I am looking forward to working with him and I am delighted to welcome him to Birmingham City.”
