SFA welcomes enterprise report
The Small Firms Association has welcomed the report of the Enterprise Strategy Group.
However, it warned that many of its recommendations will be impossible to implement if the Government fails to set up an Expert Group on Enterprise.
Pat Delaney, director of the SFA, said: "In the past many outstanding reports have simply become rhetoric because of the failure of the political system to embrace the entire thrust of what was being proposed.
"That type of response results in a piecemeal approach to industrial policy. There is an urgent need to place enterprise strategy at the heart of the decision making process and this can only be achieved if all Government departments with responsibility for all areas of enterprise are co-ordinated."
Meanwhile, the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland, which represents US business and industrial interests throughout the State, also welcomed the publication of the Forfás Enterprise Strategy Review Group Report.
Mr Ciaran Ennis, president of the American Chamber, said: "This valuable strategic review sets the plinth for Ireland’s economic growth and development in the coming years.
"The role which foreign direct investment plays in our economy has clearly been acknowledged in the report and US industry must openly be credited for its long term involvement and commitment in this regard."
