ISEQ up, as Abbey shows massive gain
07/07/2004 - 11:04:10This morning saw the ISEQ index of Irish shares up 17.61 points at 5417.76.
It was a quiet morning for the financials, with AIB climbing 6c to €12.31, Anglo Irish Bank up 2c at €12.50, and Irish Life & Permanent losing 2c to stand at €12.40 at 10.30am.
Bank of Ireland showed a gain of 16c to €10.60.
Construction company Abbey was the most dramatic mover on the index, gaining 50c (6%) for a share price of €8.90.
Irish Continental also posted a significant gain, up 20c (2%) at €10.45.
Pharmaceutical company Elan was up 3c mid-morning, having announced the sale of the rights for one of its drugs, Myobloc.
Despite the announcement of an expansion into the UK wine market, DCC was down 5c, at €14.45.
