Scanlon puts Ireland back on Tour map

Mark Scanlon will today become the first Irishman in 12 years to compete in the Tour de France today.

Sligoman Scanlon shot to prominence after he won the world championship road race as a junior in 1998.

This year's race gets underway with the prologue in Belgium, with Lance Armstrong aiming to become the first man ever to win six Tour titles.
