Baby-faced raiders rob grandmother's house
03/07/2004 - 10:19:08Two young girls robbed a 92-year-old pensioner after forcing their way into her Co Down home, police said today.
The children, both believed to be under 10 years old, pushed past the elderly victim when she opened the door of her house on Chapel Street, Newry.
She could only watch helplessly as the girls stole money and sentimental items from her handbag.
Police described the attack as outrageous, and said that although the woman was uninjured she was left greatly shocked.
They appealed for witnesses of the burglary, which occurred at around 5.30pm yesterday, to come forward.
One of the girls was wearing a pink anorak and the other, a blue one. Elderly people living in the Newry area have been urged to be vigilant.
