White's freebie confusion
White Stripes rocker Jack White is amazed by the amount of freebies he gets given because of his celebrity - but nothing could prepare him for the fan who bought him a $3,000 (€2,500) guitar.
The Fell in Love with a Girl star was left dumbfounded when the fanatical music lover presented him with the expensive instrument recently.
He says: "Someone recently bought me the same guitar I use onstage. He bought a mint condition one, never played, $3,000 on EBAY and gave it to me as a present.
"That was heavy that someone would spend that much money and make the effort to give it to me as a present. It was pretty ridiculous."
And White finds it incredible that companies give out free clothes to famous people in order to raise their product's profile, while needy folk get given nothing.
He says: "What's really ridiculous is when people give you free jeans and clothes when you can afford them. When we were broke, where were they then?"
