ARCON appoints new chief executive

28/06/2004 - 18:42:14
The board of ARCON International Resources Plc has appointed Peter Kidney as chief executive designate to replace Kevin Ross, who is stepping down as CEO in August to take up a similar position overseas. He will remain on the ARCON board as a non-executive director.

Peter Kidney (48), a chartered accountant, has been involved with the development of the ARCON group since it was established in its current form in 1992, initially as chief financial officer and since November 2004 as finance director.

Commenting on the announcement today, company chairman, Mr Tony O'Reilly Jnr said: “ARCON is now moving into a new phase of its development. It has made significant advances in the last three years under Kevin Ross’s guidance, with the successful exploration programme at Galmoy, development of the high-grade ‘R’ zone, and the recent successful modifications to the mineral processing plant, including the addition of a lead circuit which is now in operation."

The mine management will continue to pursue improvements in operating efficiency and performance which will ensure that ARCON is able to deliver the benefits of these changes to shareholders.
