O'Brien ready for Bohs
Colin O’Brien has urged Cork City to put the euphoria of beating Malmo FF on Saturday night on the back burner ahead of tonight’s visit of Bohemians to Turner’s Cross, kick-off 7.45.
The Gypsies come to a Turner’s Cross that rocked with celebration at the weekend but O’Brien insists Cork need to concentrate on the task at hand.
“We have to put all thoughts of Saturday night out of our minds. The most important task we face is Bohemians in the league.
“The logic of having this fixture in between our two European games is strange but we have to deal with it.
“Saturday night’s game was a tremendous result but the most important thing is the eircom League. That must be the focus of our attention and I am certain we will all be tuned in for the game,” O’Brien told the Evening Echo.
O’Brien’s sentiments were echoed by team captain Dan Murray, who also questioned the timing of the Bohemians match.
“I think it’s harsh having to play in Europe twice and having a match against Bohemians in the same week.
“We just have to get on with it because Europe isn’t the most important thing for us, the league is and that is where our focus must lie.
“We can start thinking about the return leg in Sweden on Wednesday morning but our focus must be on Bohemians for now.
“Our confidence will be sky high after that performance on Saturday night and we must build on that and use it.
“Bohemians will provide a tough test for us and they will be hoping that we are distracted by our European commitments.
“We can’t allow that to happen but I am sure that everyone will be focused on what needs to be done on Tuesday night.
“We all want to win the league and that determination will stand to us against Bohs,” said Murray.
