Paisley outraged at parade re-routing
DUP leader Ian Paisley has expressed his anger at the re-routing of a contentious Orange Order parade in Belfast this weekend.
Mr Paisley said yesterday that the matter would be top of the agenda at his meeting with British Prime Minister Tony Blair on Friday.
He said he would be seeking answers about the re-routing before he agreed to discuss the real reason why the talks were arranged - the restoration of devolution in the North.
The Parades Commission decided to re-route this year’s Whiterock parade because of breaches of its guidelines at least year’s march and the Orange Order’s refusal to speak to local nationalist residents.
Mr Paisley has described the re-routing decision as unacceptable and has warned that "anything could happen on Saturday" as Orangemen were "rightly outraged".
He denied that his words amounted to a threat of violence.
