Education Minister apologises in the Dáil
22/06/2004 - 22:06:17Education Minister Noel Dempsey has apologised in the Dáil for abusing the Standards in Public Office regulations.
Prior to the Local and European elections Minister Dempsey landed himself in hot water when he issued Fianna Fail pre election material in government folders.
This is against the rules of the Standards in Public Office Commission. The Fianna Fail material should only be issued using Fianna Fail envelopes and headed paper.
Minster Dempsey came in for harsh criticism from all sides for his actions and today offered an apology to the Government and to his colleagues in the Dáil.
The party will now pay €2,590 for its indiscretion.
