Monaghan opt out of alternative championship
02/06/2004 - 13:35:25Monaghan GAA chiefs have opted not to take part in the new football championship for weaker counties.
GAA President Sean Kelly has set up a competition which is set to get underway in July for a number of weaker counties.
It will culminate in an August final at Croke Park.
However, Monaghan have made it known early on that they won't be taking part because of the pressure on club fixtures.
