Dublin Zoo reveals new arrivals
Dublin Zoo today revealed its newest arrivals: three female Sumatran tiger cubs, one of the world's most endangered species.
The cubs made their first public appearance earlier today. Born on Saturday, March 27, and now just over ten weeks old, the three cubs - named 'Satu', 'Dua' and 'Tiga' - have made excellent progress since then.
Satu, Dua and Tiga, which means 'One' Two' and 'Three' in Bahasa Indonesia, each weighed approximately 900g when born but already weigh 6kg to 8kg each.
Speaking at the Zoo today, Director of Dublin Zoo, Leo Oosterweghel said, "The Sumatran tiger is one of the world's most critically endangered species, due to habitat loss and poaching.
"The birth of three cubs really is welcome, considering there are less than 400 Sumatran tigers remaining in the wild."
