Loos loses TV job
The woman who claims she was David Beckham’s lover has lost her job presenting a show on Dutch television – after just two weeks.
Rebecca Loos, the England captain’s former personal assistant, fronted Shownieuws, the entertainment news for SBS 6, a channel specialising in showbiz, sport and film.
But the woman made internationally famous by her alleged fling with Beckham will no longer be in the hot seat.
Eric Dekker, a spokesman for SBS 6, said her trial period had only ever been planned for two weeks and added that producers were in talks with Miss Loos over another role.
“She presented the show for two weeks,” he said. “After that we decided to talk to each other.
“We are still talking with Rebecca about her future at SBS. The only thing which is clear now is she won’t be presenting the show.”
Mr Dekker said Miss Loos may stay on at the channel in another capacity, but added that no decision would be made for at least a week.
“She might be getting some sort of role as a star reporter, going to premieres, interviewing stars.
"That’s what we are talking about.”
The 26-year-old, whose father is part Dutch, is fluent in the language and presented Shownieuws in Dutch.
When asked why she was no longer presenting the programme, Mr Dekker replied: “The agreement was based on two weeks, so that was certain from the beginning.
“After that we had to talk about the future.”
In an interview with Dutch daily De Telegraaf before starting the job, Miss Loos said it offered “a chance for me to do something else and to live in another country for a while, where people are more liberal”.
“I think that the Dutch can accept what happened to me better than English or Spanish people,” she said.
Miss Loos is thought to have made around £800,000 (€1.2m) from her story, but Real Madrid star Beckham has dismissed her claims of an affair as “ludicrous”.
