ComReg highlights call charge transparency
ComReg today issued two draft decisions designed to ensure that telephone users have access to clear and accurate information about the pricing of telephone services.
The communications watchdog believes that three broad principles - accuracy, comprehensiveness and accessibility - should be applied when pricing information is presented.
ComReg has also issued a separate draft direction on connection charges to providers of directory inquiry services.
A recent study showed that 51% of consumers who use call connection are not aware that there is an increased cost when using this service.
The cost of using call connection is considerably higher than the standard rates paid if the number was dialled by the consumer.
These principles and guidance on compliance rules are contained in a code of practice for tariff presentation.
ComReg expects to announce a final decision on both measures in early July.
