Anti-incineration groups to meet in Athlone tonight

11/05/2004 - 08:27:18
Anti-incineration groups from around the country are due to meet in Athlone tonight to discuss a co-ordinated campaign against the construction of incinerators in Ireland.

The meeting was arranged by members of the group opposed to the construction of a hazardous waste incinerator in the Ringaskiddy area of Cork.

The group believes that anti-incineration organisations will be more effective if they co-ordinate their activities and efforts.

Opponents of incineration have accused Environment Minister Martin Cullen of forcing the policy on the country without consultation or debate.
