Ahern to come under fire over McCabe controversy

11/05/2004 - 08:03:27
The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is expected to come under fire in the Dáil today over his position on the killers of Garda Jerry McCabe.

Mr Ahern said yesterday that that the four men jailed in connection with the garda’s death would probably have to be released from prison early as part of a deal to secure an end to IRA activity.

He accused the Taoiseach of dishonesty and of saying one thing in public while making secret arrangements with the IRA without any consultation with the Dáil.
