Emerson unhappy at Ibrox treatment

04/05/2004 - 09:19:20
Rangers midfielder Emerson insists he is being frozen out by manager Alex McLeish because he was bought by David Murray and not the Ibrox boss.

The Brazilian has not featured since the end of February and he believes he is now being made the scapegoat for a disappointing season.

But Emerson insists he has yet to decide whether he will cut his losses and leave Ibrox like fellow midfielder Christian Nerlinger, who has accepted a settlement to quit Glasgow early.

Emerson told the Daily Record: “I was bought by the owner of the club and I don’t think that was a very positive thing for me.

“At first the coach called on me but when things went wrong I was left out of the team with no explanation. It is a sign of how young the coach is.

“When things didn’t go so well, he picked on someone to pay the price. That person was me.”

He added: “I don’t know yet if I will stay but I have one more year left on my contract so it is possible.

“Right now the situation at the club is a little bit unstable. On the other hand, I have some proposals to return to Spain or even go back to the English Premier League.”
