IMO calls for better hospital security
04/05/2004 - 16:31:39The Irish Medical Organisation has renewed their calls for increased security in hospitals.
This follows an incident where a man threatened a doctor with a fake gun. He was subsequently overpowered by staff and arrested.
Fintan Hourihan of the Irish Medical Organisation has said improved security is essential in all hospitals.
"There are a lot of practical measure that can be introduced in terms of locking devices, warning systems. We do feel that more needs to be done to protect staff working in hospitals,” said Mr Hourihan.
