Curtin seeks more time to explain his actions
Judge Brian Curtin has reportedly asked for two more weeks to prepare an explanation for the Government about how his credit card was used to purchase child pornography on the Internet.
The Government had requested the explanation after Judge Curtin was acquitted of possessing child pornography due to a Garda blunder relating to a search of his house in May, 2002.
The cabinet had asked the judge to prepare an explanation of his actions by this morning and was due to discuss this explanation before deciding what action to take.
However, reports this morning said ministers were expected to grant his request for more time.
The cabinet is still expected to discuss the matter today and is expected to receive two reports on the collapse of the Curtin case from the Garda Commissioner and the Director of Public Prosecutions.
