Highbury enjoys party atmosphere

01/05/2004 - 12:48:02
There was a celebratory atmosphere at Highbury as Arsenal, who clinched the title last weekend at White Hart Lane, were unveiled as the Premiership champions.

The title will not be presented until the final weekend of the season, but a large banner in the executive boxes still read ‘well done to Daddy and the team’ from Dennis Bergkamp’s children.

Bergkamp, as it turned out, started on the right flank, with Reyes up front and Ljungberg on the left.

The Dutchman also had the first effort of the game, sending a chip over the bar after a neat back-flick from Gilberto Silva, while Reyes clipped another shot wide.

Birmingham, meanwhile, were concentrating more on containment, although Stephen Clemence had a volley blocked at the far post after arriving unmarked on the break.
