Two hurt in Cup final knife horror

One man was arrested and three were taken to hospital today when trouble flared during the Irish Cup Final in Belfast.

Police were called when violence broke out in the North Stand of Windsor Park where Glentoran fans were seated shortly before half time.

Two men are believed to have suffered stab wounds during the disturbances.

A police spokeswoman said three people had been taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

“A man was arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. He was taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries,” she said.

“Two other people appear to have sustained stab wounds during the disturbances and have also been taken to hospital.”

Glentoran claimed the cup after a 1-0 victory over Premier league rivals Coleraine.
