Kidman tries her hand at diplomacy
30/04/2004 - 14:27:48Nicole Kidman proved she was more than a pretty face when she impressed members of the United Nations last week by taking time out of her shooting schedule to meet and greet ambassadors and UN staff.
The Oscar-winning actress and director Sydney Pollack – who are filming The Interpreter at the UN General Assembly – were guests of honour at a cocktail party hosted by Australian UN ambassador John Dauth and New York Consul-General Kenneth Allen.
The pair, along with 500 other guests, marked the historic film which is the first to be shot in the UN building.
UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan gave the movie project the green light because the film will be seen by millions of people the organization could never reach otherwise and would not conflict with UN values.
