A vision of the future for Bush?

30/04/2004 - 11:56:22
Hollywood loves nothing better than feeling important, so imagine the joy at the thought that a new disaster film about global warming could leave George Bush squirming.

Giant tornadoes rip through LA, and New York floods in The Day After Tomorrow, a £80m (€118.5m) thriller by Independence Day director Roland Emmerich.

Democrats pulling for John Kerry love the eco-plot, in which Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal battle a new Ice Age brought on by smoke and car exhaust fumes.

Al Gore is already talking up the film, which opens in the US at the end of May, saying: “Millions of people will be coming out of movie theatres asking the question, ’Could this really happen?’.”

A Bush spokesman said: “People know what they’re watching is entertainment, and not grounded in basic scientific fact.”

Next they’ll be claiming that West Wing’s Martin Sheen isn’t really the President!
